Important information regarding the Post 9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33)

The VA is now accepting applications for the Post 9/11 GI Bill and you may apply on the VA's web site at www.gibill.va.gov . Before you apply for this benefit, please read the information regarding this chapter very carefully and call 1-888-442-4551 to make sure electing Chapter 33 is to your advantage. Once you elect to use this chapter of benefits your decision is irrevocable.

Veterans (certain dependents of veterans, Reservists and Guard members) may be entitled to educational benefits from the Veterans Administration.

PCC is state approved for the training of veterans and most of the programs offered by PCC have been approved by the VA.

Educational Benefits for Spouses and Dependents

Spouses and Dependents of disabled and fallen service members may be eligible for educational benefits. For more information, visit the Educational Benefits for Spouses and Dependents of Veterans page.

    Verify your status first

You should verify your program status before registering. If you have eligibility questions call the Veterans Administration at 1-888-442-4551.

All veteran student files are maintained at the Sylvania Campus, CC Building, Room 246.

Before your first term at PCC

If you are using veterans benefits for the first time or are transferring to PCC, you must apply through this office and complete an intake interview either in person or by phone. Call the office to find out which documents to provide for the certification process at 503-977-4502. A Veterans Specialist can help you complete your packet.

    What the VA expects

VA regulations require that you maintain a 2.0 GPA in your declared major to receive educational benefits. Also, the VA will not pay for audits, W, I, CIP's or NP grades.

If you're receiving benefits, be sure to meet these conditions to avoid VA overpayment or possible interruption of benefits.
